Literature Reviews:
Introduction
REVIEW FORMAT:
Our
reviews of the professional literature of psychotherapy
fall into three parts:
content
synopsis, rhetorical review, and commentary.
The synopses summarize the core ideas/arguments of the book or article
with reference to key quotations (for each book chapter or article
sub-heading).
The rhetorical reviews assess the effect that the formal aspects or
'style' of the writing have on the reviewer's reception of its content or
argument, and include a discussion of the relation between theory and case
material in the text.
The commentaries express the writer's questions
and challenges to the text.
Reviewers familiar with the author's other published work may comment on the
place of the text within the authors larger body of work, and within the general
literature on the same topic.
Books and articles reviewed here are indexed
separately by author and topic.
